Elise Hurst

Elise Hurst is an Australian self-trained artist, illustrator and writer, specialising in children’s books. To date she has published over 55 books. She has received frequent commendations for her work, most particularly a short listing and notable commendation for her book The Night Garden in the prestigious CBCA awards in 2008, which she both wrote and illustrated. She also illustrates covers, novels and various other graphic media, and carries her narrative anthropomorphic work into oil paintings and drawings for which she is gathering a large following throughout Australia. Elise regularly lectures and teaches across Australia, and has been involved with organisations to champion the interests of illustrators and encourage young artists to pursue their ambitions. Elise's latest book is Imagine a City.
